This Smartwares smoke detector has a lot to offer in terms of safety and reliability and in practical use it is brilliant. As a test winner of the Stiftung Warentest (Issue 01/2018) he has cut particularly well compared to 18 other smoke detectors.
The hand-sized smoke detector has a VdS certification, which is probably the most important quality feature for safety and fire protection technology. It has also received the Q seal which is given for a particularly high level of safety and reliability.
The full-surface and easily accessible test button is particularly practical. These can also be easily achieved with a broom handle in 3 m height.
Thanks to the built-in lithium battery with a lifespan of 10 years, you save yourself the hassle of changing batteries. It should be noted that smoke detectors generally need to be replaced after 10 years at the latest, since after the end of this period a perfect function is no longer guaranteed. Of course, the smoke detector also has a battery warning when the battery is too low.
The smoke alarm has an alarm mute function - in case of a false alarm, the 85 dB loud alarm for approx. Suppress for 10 minutes. If smoke particles are still in the air after this period has elapsed, the alarm will be triggered again. Thanks to the mute function, this smoke detector is also suitable for use in the kitchen, because cooking fumes can quickly trigger a false alarm.
The regularly flashing status LED of the smoke detector is installed under the plastic lid. Therefore, the effect of the flashing LED is very inconspicuous, which is very advantageous when used e.g. in the bedroom.
