Duronic SADV1 Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) Light box
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern and tends to affect people in the autumn/winter as these seasons with the least sunlight increase symptoms caused by light deprivation.
The Duronic SADV1 has a Medical CE certificate
Light therapy offers you a convenient and effective way of making up for the lack of light without medication. The Duronic SADV1 uses a very bright light (approximately 10000 LUX) to simulate natural sunlight. It includes a folding stand for desk use and it is wall mountable if required.
The symptoms of SAD normally reoccur each winter and usually start between September and November, continuing until March or April.
These symptoms include:
depression, mood swings, negative thoughts and feelings, guilt and loss of self-esteem, hopelessness and despair, apathy, lethargy, fatigue, poor cognitive function, difficulty concentrating, feelings of tension, anxiety, inability to deal with stress, lowered immune system in winter, sleep problems, the need and want to sleep more, oversleeping or difficulty staying awake during the day, disturbed sleep patterns and/or early morning awakening, insomnia, overeating, increased desire for carbohydrates to boost mood, weight gain, social anxiety, increased irritability, sudden lifts in mood, restlessness and lack of motivation.
Light therapy has been proven to be effective in up to 80% of diagnosed cases. Treatment using approximately 10, 000 lux light boxes can take as little as 30-60 minutes a day.
